TIM Lawless of CoreLogic RP Data said property buyers could be throwing away the equivalent of renovating the kitchen if they didn’t do their research. He said not knowing the market and paying even one per cent more than a home was worth could equate to $5000 on a house at a fairly standard price of $500,000. “If you don’t do research you could actually cost yourself a lot of money or end up buying the wrong type of property,” he said. Mr Lawless said research should be ongoing. Now that CoreLogic RP Data has launched its Property Value tool, anyone could easily research the market, he said. Property Value, www.property, allows potential buyers and sellers to search property information online for free. It gives data on a property, street and suburb, mapping and suburb analysis. It has been created in response to increasing demand from everyday buyers and investors for more transparent property information.
