Gisele takes out honours
GISELE George has enjoyed a busy start to the year, so much so that the RE/MAX Cairns real estate agent has been named the company’s second highest sales associate in the country.
RE/MAX Australia managing director Michael Davoren made the announcement at the network’s recent mid-year Rally in Brisbane, saying real estate customers could be confident they were dealing with the industry’s best when they dealt with Ms George, and the rest of the Cairns RE/MAX team.
“This award represents an exceptional degree of customer service focus, and marketing, communication and negotiation skills,” he said.
Ms George claimed the No. 2 Top Sales Associate Award and is recognised as one of the top salespeople in the RE/MAX Australia network, with the highest figure for settled transactions for the first half of 2015.
“It is an honour, it is great to be achieving so well early in the piece, but selling is not about awards for me,” Ms George said.
“It is more about people I deal with. We had an auction this week and when the people bought the property under the hammer they cried; that is what is really special to me ... I love that side of it.”
RE/MAX Real Estate Services Cairns principal Tony Williamson said: “Gisele has a great reputation for reading the Cairns property market well and buying her first home in her early twenties set her on that path.”
A Cairns local, Ms George has renovated, bought and sold many properties of her own over more than 20 years, and she has experienced both sales and property management roles through her real estate career.
“I have been buying, renovating and selling my own properties for years, so that’s where I got the real estate bug from,” Ms George said.
“I was a property manager for four-and-a-half years, and I’ve been in sales for just under two years now.”
She said her experience as a homeowner and investor held her in good stead when dealing with potential buyers.
“If someone is looking at a house, I know for example how much a kitchen costs because I just gutted a house and renovated two months ago, so it makes it easier to have that conversation with somebody,” she said.
Ms George said forging a successful real estate sales career was not something done in isolation but required the support of peers and mentors.
“I see my achievement as the result of developing skills across many areas, of building and maintaining relationships and data bases, of having an up-tothe minute grasp on the local real estate market, and of professionally communicating with all customers,” she said.
“We are all immensely proud of the service and outcomes we deliver.”
