The Weekend Post - Real Estate

Some vital questions answered

-

WHETHER you are planning to buy an investment property, downsize to a unit or are on the hunt for the ultimate family home, this week’s Realestate liftout gives you plenty of information to ponder.

Property is about arming yourself with information – whether it is talking to the right broker and finding out how much deposit you need, to what features to look for before signing on the dotted line.

This week we spoke to Cairns property manager Jennifer Palumbo at First National Cairns about the top priorities for renters.

Do tenants pay more for location or security?

Perhaps a pool will put you in front of the competition or furnishing your investment to appeal to our transient population.

So, if you are an investor looking for a long-term tenant, cast your eye over our ‘what tenants want’ story and the outcomes of a recently released Queensland survey.

We also spoke to local real estate agents about what makes a perfect family abode.

All the questions are answered in today’s liftout with the input of Nicole Bragg and Debbie North and both agents agree – looking forward is the best way to secure a “forever home”.

“Family needs change over the years,” Ms Bragg said.

“The top features (for the ultimate family home) are multiple living areas, multiple bathrooms, close to schools, good space for kids to get outdoors and adult and children space (indoors).

“It is important to have enough rooms but also flexibility to convert these spaces into a games room or study potentially.”
