OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS

It’s not very common for a house in this sought-after location to go on the market so don’t delay, it won’t last very long once word gets out

- ARUN SINGH MANN

A YOUNG family that had aspirations of one day retiring at this “perfectly” located beachside home south of Cairns, has regrettably had to market their property.

While work requirements have drawn them interstate, it’s the stunning location that will draw buyers to 10 Paperbark Street, Bramston Beach, says Cairns Property Office agent Robyn Hawley-Whitton.

“That is its key feature,” she said.

“The location is fantastic – it backs on to a protected nature reserve and it’s only a block off the beach.”

Ms Hawley-Whitton said ocean views and breezes paired with sights of lush green mountains weren’t the only drawcards for

Bramston Beach. “It’s a sleepy little town, but a very tightly held area,” she said.

“There’s many families from Cairns who bought there many years ago for holiday homes, and now we’re seeing the kids come through and buy the properties. So it has some generational stories.

“Only about 180 people live there but there is a caravan park and so those numbers swell during the tourist season.

“And there is a small cafe and Mirriwinni and Babinda are close by.”

Offering a picturesque, laid-back lifestyle, Ms Hawley-Whitton said she was surprised more people didn’t reside at Bramston Beach.

“But you won’t see any crazy big developments there, a lot of the area around you is national parks. So properties don’t often come on to the market here. It’s ideal for someone who wants a quiet lifestyle, but be close to the water.”

She said the 1980-built three-bedroom home was a typical beach house, that could do with some updates, but didn’t need them.

“It’s definitely ready to move into. The interior has a retro feel with original ’80s features in the kitchen and the bathroom.”

The double-storey house features tiles throughout the lower level with a lounge room that is separated by a classic brick archway from the open-plan dining and kitchen which extends out to the back veranda.

Upstairs is a carpeted hallway with three spacious bedrooms including a main bedroom with ocean views and a four-door built-in robe.

The main bathroom features a hob shower, a timber vanity and a marlin etched mirror, adding to “the beach feel”. Sitting on a 700sq m block, Ms Hawley-Whitton said that this property offered a rare luxury at Bramston Beach – room to expand.

“Because it has the potential to be a bed and breakfast or an Airbnb, you might like to continue living there onsite while managing a rental,” she said.

“There’s some room to add an extra wing to the property, or otherwise you could easily build a large boat shed or even a pool.”

Bramston Beach is only a one hour and 15 minute drive from Cairns Airport and is close to local schools and shopping in the towns of Mirriwinni, Babinda and Innisfail.

A school bus operates between Mirriwinni and Babinda as well as a local shop for all day to day needs.
