LAP UP THE LUXURY

Properties for sale on Cairns’ premier thoroughfare don’t come around often

- BRONWYN FARR

PROPERTIES on Cairns Esplanade are tightly held and this two-storey residence at 203 Esplanade on the market for the first time is expected to garner substantial interest.

It was built in 1987 and has readily stood the test of time, according to RE/MAX agent Udo Jattke, who recently sold a Queenslander at 231 Esplanade for $2.87m.

Mr Jattke built the house when he ran Glenwood Homes.

“The owners have decided to downsize to a unit and they reminded me this was the first house of its type built on the Esplanade; it was a tighter block and the building took up most of the land space,” Mr Jattke said.

“Not many Esplanade properties would have a three-car carport and workshop.”

The ground level has a fully self-contained space with four bedrooms, a large rumpus room and kitchen. Upstairs, there’s a huge balcony to make the most of the view, a 7.4m x 6m kitchen and living area, a dining area and large adjoining media room, master bed with walk-in robe and ensuite, three further bedrooms, a bathroom and study.

There is a storage area and large outdoor BBQ area surrounding the pool.

Security is a feature and the property is completely fenced.

“The owners have enjoyed being so close to restaurants; they will be sad to move, but the time is right,” Mr Jattke said.

“The buyer will be someone who sees the value of getting two houses for the price of one. It would suit multiple purposes – a family upstairs and mum and dad downstairs.

“Don’t think for one moment local buyers won’t snap this up. The chance to buy on the Esplanade doesn’t come up often and this was modern in its day, and it still is today.”
