CAIRNS Show Auto Spectacular organisers expect this weekend’s event to be the biggest and best in its 10-year history.

Show organiser Charissa List said interest from Towns- ville had sparked a noticeable rise in entries.

“We have 120 cars at the moment and 70 bikes,” she said. “That’s up on last year and the biggest display we’ve ever had.

“A convoy of about 15 cars is coming from Townsville this year.

“We will have a fair few new hot rods and a lot of new cars.”

Daniel Vella, who brought his People’s Choice winning Eleanor Ford Mustang last year, is showing his latest model Mustang at the showground.

Ms List said there were a lot of activities for all demo- graphics, such as driving events for participants, including a motorkhana.

For children there will be a superslide, a jumping castle and a merry-go-round, all free to ride and as many times as they like and, for bigger youngsters, there is a fully immersive virtual reality simulator.

Ms List said Casey Tolcher was coming back from Townsville to take part in a new and rebuilt Holden Commodore after his previous burnout car caught fire and was destroyed on the way home last year.
