Salvos’ $1500 treat

ELITE Real Estate Services Cairns have presented a Christmas bonus to The Salvation Army, donating $1500 to the charity. The Salvation Army was selected to receive the donation after a survey was held by Elite. “Around Christmas it is good to give something back to the community,” said Elite marketing assistant Monique Robert.

Celebratin­g small

NEXT year’s Queensland Small Business Week is being held from May 15-20, with events being held across the state. “Queensland Small Business Week is an opportunit­y to highlight and celebrate the importance of the 406,000 small businesses that contribute around $100 million to our state’s economy,” said Minister for Small Business Leeanne Enoch. “With 32 per cent of the state’s small businesses operating in regional Queensland, we will continue our commitment to take this event to the regions and connect with as many small business owners as we can.”

Innisfail optimism

NEW Innisfail Chamber of Commerce president Ron Donges is optimistic about 2017. In a notice to members, he reinforced the importance of “spending locally”. “Next year we will be actively encouragin­g all town centre businesses to open their doors and promote a special feature about their business,” he said. “It is vital that we keep our spending within this region, so businesses need to give the shoppers of this town a reason to stay and shop locally. It’s our town, so it’s our responsibi­lity to ensure its vitality.”
