Dashcam footage wanted by police
JANESSA EKERT CAIRNS detectives are appealing for dashcam footage or information about a silver 2007 Subaru Forester as part of a sudden death investigation.
The vehicle belonged to a 56-year-old man whose body was found behind an old fuel tank in Edge Hill about 5pm on Tuesday.
Police would like information on the car’s movements between 8pm on January 1 and 5pm on January 3.
Officers are appealing to anyone who saw the Subaru, with Queensland registration 737 KEK, parked on Collins Ave near the entrance to the Red Arrow walking track.
It is believed the man had been missing since about 6pm last Sunday.
He was a father of three from Melbourne who had lived in the area for about a year.
Police are asking for help to identify his movements in the vicinity of where his body was found at the eastern end of Collins Ave.
Any sudden death investigation is treated as suspicious until it is determined otherwise.
On Thursday, State Emergency Service volunteers assisted the police investigation by using rakes and metal detectors to scour the site where the body was found for evidence.
Cairns police also conducted extensive investigations including scientific processing of the scene and obtaining the results of the port mortem examination, which will form part of the police report to the coroner.
