FAR NORTH CONNECTION
Q AWe do not have the time to soak up the sun and enjoy the climate and the tourist aspect. We can’t get caught up in that too much. I think every time you jump on a flight it is an opportunity to come together and commit to each other and a performance. We treat this the same as any other trip. But there is no doubt it is a beautiful climate and the afternoon setting in Cairns is always attractive.
Q AWhat are your thoughts on bringing a home game to Cairns? The club have their deal with Ballarat. Can Ballarat and Cairns coexist in 2018 and beyond?
Absolutely, yes. The Cairns connection and partnership for me as a coach is a priority. It is important for us to do this for many reasons, not just that we play a national game. Even though it is a home game for us, it is fine to be able to commit to the Cairns experience. Gold Coast players have to jump on a plane too so there is no advantage. We do not feel like we give up anything. Our fans love the fact that we have been winning in Cairns.
