LAST HURRAH

-

Q

What are the emotions going into your last few international matches? How do you tackle them through the tournament?

A

I’m really excited to head into what will be my third and final World Cup. For me, I’ve always tried to play every game as my last because you just never know when it is your final game, so I guess that feeling is no different going into the games ahead. We’ve got a job to and that’s certainly something we’ve got every intent to go out there to do and life after football is always something we’ve spoken about … I’m so lucky enough to be in place where I’ll always be involved in football and while it won’t be in a playing capacity, it will certainly be about creating opportunities for everyone to play our game, regardless of gender, ability, background, culture, so I feel very fortunate.

Q

What makes this team so special? Why will you win the 2017 World Cup?

A

This squad has been trimmed down from a squad of 40 so in the last 12 months everyone’s been really nipping at everyone’s heels with regards to getting a spot in the final team. To be named in the final 24 was a wonderful thing in itself but then we’ve just come off the back of a heavy training block as well now, so everyone has really dug deep and chipped in and while we want to go out there and get some really good results, what’s really important is we do want to inspire young girls to take up the game and want to be a part of this, so it’s about creating a good spotlight around the female game and obviously that all comes back to producing a good product on the field and doing all that aids in getting more girls to the game.
