AFTER being sworn to secrecy for months, Far North Queensland suppliers can finally reveal the details behind celebrity chef Manu Feildel and his now-wife Clarissa’s exclusive Mission Beach wedding.

The pair tied the knot at The Elandra Mission Beach on January 20 after renting out the entire exclusive resort.

The Elandra owner Adam Karras said the team was “quite chuffed” to have been chosen for the couple’s special day.

“Both of the families were really happy to be able to meet each other and relax without being interrupted by people wanting to get a selfie,” he said.

He said both Mr and Mrs Feildel were completely relaxed during their five-day stay.

“Manu and his mother-inlaw even gave our kitchen staff the day off and took over to make a beautiful Sri Lankan curry,” he said.

“And when it came to the day the flowers, the styling, everything was perfection.”

Benn Brown from Blue Sky Photography in Cairns was there to capture every moment of their special day.

“Both Clarissa and Manu really wanted their day to be about their families, friends and the celebration of their wedding,” he said.

“They wanted some beautiful photos, of course, and Mis- sion Beach is such a stunning area.

“We love photographing there, but equally important to them was that we captured their celebration and their loved ones in a natural and unstructured style.”

Their wedding cake was also given an elegantly rustic treatment, with the bride working with Cakes Annietime owner Ann O’Rourke to deliver a naked chocolate hazelnut wedding cake.

“She rang me and told me she was getting married at The Elandra, then she said there was just one more thing and that her husband-to-be was Manu from My Kitchen Rules,” she said.

“I thought there was no way that was true and that it had to be a joke, so I Googled her and I realised it was real.

“She was really lovely and really easy to deal with.”

The cake was garnished with fresh flowers and a personalised cake topper that read “all of me loves all of you”, lyrics from the John Legend song that played as Mrs Feildel walked down the aisle.

The wedding was attended by 20 close family members and friends.
