GRADUATES RATED THE TOPS BY EMPLOYERS
JAMES Cook University (JCU) graduates are leading the way in employer satisfaction, according to a national survey.
JCU graduates received the highest percentage of favourable ratings from employers in the 2017 Australian Government’s Employer Satisfaction Survey.
They received a satisfaction rating of more than 90 per cent, with this latest statistic building on JCU’s continuing reputation for graduate job success – the university has been awarded five stars in this field for seven years running by the Good Universities Guide.
Since completing his degree six years ago, JCU civil engineering graduate Michael Mallet has built a career spanning from Townsville to Hong Kong.
During his final year of study, he secured a job working on the Townsville Wharf.
He was then headhunted and relocated to Hong Kong, where he was the site engineer for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

“I liked the way the lecturers taught the course. The main reason I became passionate about design and construction was my lecturers. Both the passion of my lecturers and the opportunities that existed allowed me to get to where I am today.”
Business graduate Emily Quinn said the connections she made while at JCU helped kick start her career.
Ms Quinn is working as an executive assistant and event manager in Sydney for a company that takes music festivals to regional areas around the country.
