Norths’ singular focus could prove difference

-

JACOB GRAMS DANGER signs could emerge for Norths pending Atherton’s fortunes in the one-day final but either way one of Australia’s best country cricketers believes he has the formula to get the job done in the T20 final.

The match will be played tomorrow, less than 24 hours after the 40-over decider at Griffiths Park, and Norths allrounder Chris Stanger said his side’s singular focus could play a part in their success.

But it could all mean noth- ing if the “home” side fails to take the big scalps, force dot balls and score big in the top four against an Atherton side with a wealth of depth.

Stanger said anything more than 120 would be difficult to chase at the challenging ground, something he hoped would be made harder for the opposition pending their result today.

“If they win, they’ll probably be on a bit of a high and could be dangerous on Sunday if they play a little bit more free-spirited,” he said.

“But in saying that, it will be a tough game and they will be a little bit fatigued and sore. If they lose, hopefully they’re a bit down in the dumps and we can take advantage of that

“Hopefully they win on Saturday and they get on the beers and are a bit hungover.”

After a massive workload at the Australian Country titles, Stanger said the last few weeks of washouts had him feeling fresh for the rest of the season.

But the weather ruined their chance of making the one-day final, which he said made for an even more fired up Norths side.

“I’m feeling fresh and all the boys are really keen to get back on the paddock and play some cricket,” Stanger said.
