Black­bird Espresso owner Troy Furner said he had seen vis­i­tors’ pen­chants for soy lat­tes and cold brews sky­rocket in re­cent years.

“It’s a grow­ing trend and you can def­i­nitely pick a south­ern hip­ster from the rest of the crowd,” he said.

But Mr Furner said the trend was more than just peo­ple jump­ing on the hip­ster band­wagon.

He said it gave peo­ple the knowl­edge to know ex­actly what they like and to speak up in order to get it.
