Athletes descend on carnival

Cairns Athletics is expecting to see the best of the best from around the Far North at its Twilight Event this afternoon at Barlow Park. President Amber Jackson is pleased to see 200 athletes registered for the first local carnival of the season. Athletes from around a dozen clubs will attend this key competitio­n from 2-9pm. “This is a regional carnival for us and we have athletes from a number of different areas and clubs,” Jackson said.

President Amber Jackson is pleased to see 200 athletes registered for the first local carnival of the season.

Athletes from around a dozen clubs will attend this key competitio­n from 2-9pm.

“This is a regional carnival for us and we have athletes from a number of different areas and clubs,” Jackson said.

“It is an annual big regional athletics competitio­n.

“We do have some big athletes from Tablelands, Cassowary Coast and even our own, who will come out of the woodwork for this type of event.

“There are lots of athletes who will tour around to carnivals.”
