WHY is there such uproar against Israel for defending its borders?

I’m unashamedly a friend of Israel and admire them for what they have achieved.

The small piece of earth, which is called Israel, had been for thousands of years mostly unproductive desert – nobody was interested in it or wanted it.

The Israelis made this desert “bloom” and converted it into productive farmland.

No wonder, the people in Gaza want it now.

Israel would like to be friends with the people of Gaza, but Hamas will not allow this, they want to destroy Israel.

And, as long as such a mindset exists, there will be no peace in the “holy land”.

Now let’s assume for a moment that the Gaza Strip is bordering somewhere on the east coast of Australia and we get attacked like Israel.

Would we defend our border or “would we turn the other cheek and invite the aggressors over for a cup of coffee?” I know what we would be doing – the same as the Israelis.

The countries which criticise Israel now can of course easily take the high ground as they are not bordering on the Gaza Strip. Werner Schmidlin, Yorkeys Knob
