We deserve a new stadium
I DISAGREE with the deputy editor’s assertion (CP, 11/5) that a Cazalys stadium upgrade will have no impact on plans for the erection of a suitable rectangular stadium in Cairns. For too long, three other football codes in this region have contended with an inadequate venue. Mackay received a new rectangular stadium more than seven years ago, despite being much smaller than Cairns and having smaller crowds at their NRL games. As a region we continue to stymie our progress through myopic decisionmaking. Our politicians need to wisely expend money in a manner that provides the greatest value for the majority.
