POWER OF POSITIVITY

-

Q How has it been for you mentally over the past couple of years spending so much time away from football?

A It has been interesting. After the injury it was a bit difficult, because you’ve gone from living as a professional athlete every day, getting told what to do to not being told what to do and stuff like that and then living in Cairns has been more relaxed as well and I try to keep myself busy staying on top of my rehab and training and I’m doing some other things, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

Q You seem pretty positive about everything. What’s making you see the bright side?

A At the end of the day, when things like that happen, you can’t just sit there and cry about it. You can’t cry over spilt milk. You can be like: ‘Yeah, it happened and what if this and that’ but it’s already happened and you just have to deal with it. Once you get in that mindset and start your rehab or whatever it is ... the quicker you start that the quicker you come back.

Q Who do you have to thank for coming out the other side of this ordeal?

A When it first happened a lot of people over there in Holland helped me out and I’ve just been doing a bit of physio here. But I’ve been doing a lot on my own the last year or so. Being around family definitely helps out. Just small things, like if you’re having a down day, in general it’s really good to have them there.
