The flight to Brisbane left the airport about 2.40pm yesterday, but after about 10 minutes in the air, it returned.

According to a passenger on the flight, who contacted Cairns Post, they had been in the air for only five minutes before hearing a loud bang.

Cairns Airport corporate communication manager Helen Laird said the passengers were accommodated for the night and plans were made to fly them to Brisbane this morning.
