Chillemi has two strong chances

- JORDAN GERRANS

MASTER trainer Roy Chillemi could not be happier with his two last-start winners ahead of their tilt at the Mackay Amateur Cup this afternoon.

Dazzling Pride claimed the 2017 edition of the race and has returned for a back-to-back tilt and will have stablemate Union Jukebox beside him over the 1800m trip today.

The two Chillemi chances bring strong form into the race, Union Jukebox winning on each of his last three trips to the races while Dazzling Pride won at Townsville earlier this month.

With both horses winning over 1800m previously, Chillemi believes the pair should be in the finish today.

“I am very happy to go down with these two horses, they have done well and they should be competitive,” Chillemi said.

“I am happy with them, they have proven they can run the distance and it will be about if they are good enough.”

Stable hoop Stephen Wilson rode Dazzling Pride in the 2017 Mackay Amateur Cup and was set to ride the gelding again today before he was taken away to hospital in an ambulance after suffering chest pains at Townsville on Thursday.

Wilson required a medical clearance yesterday to be cleared to ride this afternoon at Mackay.

Union Jukebox recently claimed the $16,000 Mt Garnet – Cashmere Cup (1800m).
