Hastings also welcomes applications from those who have completed grade 10, with sound achievements in maths and English, and about two years work experience.

MORE TRAINING

Those who choose to stay on with the company can either continue to refine their trade or branch out into workshop supervising, quality management, field service and maintenance positions.

Completion of an apprenticeship will provide trainees the experience to start their own trade.

PAY SCALE

An apprentice earns a percentage of a tradesman’s wage, varying based on the trade and the competency of the apprentice. A diesel-fitter apprentice earns an average wage of $17 an hour, about a third of a tradesman.
