A Parramatta Park resident told the Cairns Post he had spotted three crocs inhabiting the creek, estimating them to be about 2.5m long.

He believed the reptiles were breeding in the creek, which flows from Trinity Inlet, as he could hear their babies “chirping” from his backyard.

Signs have been erected at the creek along Gatton St, opposite TAFE Queensland’s Cairns campus.

“Parramatta Park is well within known croc country and people in the area are reminded to always be Crocwise,” the department’s spokeswoman said.

“In particular, expect crocodiles in all northern Queensland waterways.” To report a croc sighting, contact DES on 1300 130 372.
