1 FRUIT AND TREE NUTS
Another 4900 Australians are forecast to work in fruit and tree nut growing in the five years to May, 2022, Federal Government projections show. Orchards do exist but are not widespread in remote areas.
AGRICULTURE/FISHING 2 SUPPORT SERVICES
This workforce is expected to increase by 2200 people between 2017 and 2022, to reach a national total of 25,600. It includes wool classers and drovers.
3 DAIRY CATTLE FARMING
An extra 1800 workers will be needed on top of natural attrition through retirement or workers leaving the sector. It does not typically operate in remote areas, but in regional/rural parts of Australia.
MUSHROOM AND 4 VEGETABLE GROWING
About 1200 more people will be employed to grow mushrooms and vegetables by May, 2022. New technologies have enabled farms to establish in arid regions. An extra 1000 workers are expected to be hired in the fishing sector in the five years to May, 2022.
