Arzani in the frame for start against Peru

-

DAVID DAVUTOVIC TEENAGE sensation Daniel Arzani looms as a starting prospect for the Socceroos’ 2018 World Cup decider against Peru and says he has “more to give”.

Arzani, 19, caused Denmark mass headaches after coming on for Robbie Kruse in the 68th minute, unleashing a topquality shot, cross – from a stunning dribble – and was a whisker away from an assist for Aaron Mooy.

Socceroos coach Bert van Marwijk has been cagey regarding individuals and particularly with regards to Arzani, but even he hinted at the possibility of the youngest player in Russia starting on Tuesday.

Bright-eyed Arzani said a first XI berth was the coach’s call but admitted his confidence was growing, and he was his own harshest critic after a late shot that forced a strong save from Kasper Schmeichel in the 1-1 draw.

“I have no idea (if he will start). I’ll just work as hard as I can and it’s the boss’s choice,” Arzani said.

“These are not decisions for me to make.

“I’m just doing my thing.”
