On plastic bag ban
The anger at Woolworths check-outs is palpable. Customers are even abusing each other. Once again the green-left have driven a wedge into society. Miss T, Tolga It’s a con. Take a white plastic shopping bag and hang it up outside in the weather. Doesn’t take long to break down and disintegrate. The new ones don’t. Don, Earlville Woolworths back down on plastic bags because some of their customers can’t remember, or can’t be bothered, to bring their own bags. What a sad indictment on society. John, Manunda

Have the media also put the harbour development on the backburner? IG, Edge Hill Cheers for Souths who have done more for Cairns in six years than the Cowboys have in 22. Go the Bunnies. KJ, Woree The new council conflict of interest rules might be a bureaucratic shambles (CP, 28/6) but they’re a good start. End political donations now. Fencing the ocean in the CBD as well as the whole coastline? We are crazy. Margaret, Cairns If it’s good enough for mobility scooters to have numberplates, then why not pushbikes? GA, Brinsmead Who says the Queensland dynasty is over? NSW haven’t even backed up their series win with a defence of the title yet. Declan, Edge Hill Sorry, Entschy (CP, 28/6), but you have that backwards. The Federal National Energy Guarantee will increase prices and reduce reliability. That’s a feature, not a bug, because Turnbull is a greenie. Higgs, Tolga
