PROFESSIONAL and personal life cannot be compartmentalised, Eventbrite’s Laura Huddle says.

Huddle, its national business head, believes when employers take an interest in workers’ total health – from mental and physical to financial – they become more satisfied and productive.

“This is extremely important, as there is fierce competition for the best talent,” she says.

Eventbrite gives each employee a direct health and wellness stipend that can subsidise such activities as gym memberships or massage therapy.

The event management company also provides flexibility, which allows workers to leave early for family appointments or work from home.

“These types of policies build a mutual trust that is difficult to establish yet is extraordinarily valuable to both the company and employee,” Huddle says.

It also allows dogs in its offices to try to boost employee morale.
