It’s all good fun for Dumi

- JORDAN GERRANS

CAIRNS golfer Dumi Dlamini likes the challenge the game brings him.

Dlamini, the head chef at Cairns’ Waterbar and Grill since the restaurant opened in 2006, has been a member at the Cairns Golf Club for four years and enjoys the test of playing golf.

“Sometimes you hit it well and sometimes it does not work, it is like fighting with yourself,” Dlamini said.

“You know you can do it but sometimes you tee off and slice it the other way (laughs).

“It is good fun though, I love it.”

Dlamini had an indifferent round on Saturday at the Woree club but left with a smile on his face.

“The bit I like about golf is that it does not matter what age you are,” Dlamini said.

“You can play forever.

“We play with guys that are like 78 and they hit the ball straight down the middle.”

Meanwhile, the 2018 FNQ Golf World Cairns Championships, Queensland Open Qualifier, Champion of Champions and Inter Club Teams Challenge will be held at Gordonvale Golf Club from July 7-8.

Cost per player is $65 for all categories with entries closing, 3pm on Wednesday, or once entries reach the capacity of 172 players.
