A FULL-CIRCLE MOMENT

-

Greg, we want to talk about State of Origin but let’s focus on the good stuff. Tell me about what it was like to finally captain Queensland?

AI’ve been pretty busy. It’s been hectic but you’ve just got to get on with it. It was a pretty surreal feeling to be honest. Back in 2005 I made my debut there for the Melbourne Storm in Melbourne. To go back there, all those years later and to run out as the Queensland captain, the place I’d pledged my allegiance to all those years ago, it was a full-circle moment in my football career. It was unbelievable and something I never take for granted. It’s something I enjoy but obviously I didn’t enjoy the loss. We haven’t had our spine, you know, our 9,7,1,6 all together at training throughout the series but we can’t make excuses. We had the people there to do the job. In the end we just couldn’t get the result. Origin is about little key moments and little things that make a big difference. We can’t sit back and dwell on it. We have to move forward and prepare for the next game.
