THE editor of the Cairns Post, Jennifer Spilsbury, has told a gathering of Australia’s top journalists and media professionals that newspapers are “taking over the world”.

She joined ABC regional editor Cathie Schnitzerling, Nine Honey style editor Booke Campbell Bayes and VICE head of editorial Wendy Syfret in an event moderated by former newsreader Jillian Whiting. With more than two decades of experience in print media, Mrs Spilsbury’s passion shone through.
“Newspapers are very much alive. But they’re changing. We’re taking over the world,” she said. She also offered ad- vice for those in the industry: “Don’t kid yourself, you make mistakes every day. The important thing is to learn from your mistakes. Try to learn from them because you’ll make them all the time”
