Ninth case of disease
A TEENAGE boy has been hospitalised with meningococcal in Tasmania, the state’s ninth case of the disease in two months.
The 15-year-old from Launceston has contracted the B strain and is in a stable condition, public health services clinical director Faline Howes says.
A teenage girl from Hobart died from meningococcal in July, while a four-year-old girl from the state’s northwest was diagnosed with the B strain earlier this week.
Public health services said there were “no links” between the cases.
