- ANDREA FALVO

A FLEET of classic cars will get their engines running for a scenic tour of the Far North tomorrow.

Hosted by the Cassowary Coast Regional Council and Far North Queensland Restor- ers Club, more than 30 classic cars and bikes will join the inaugural Tour de Cassowary.

The rally will take drivers along the scenic routes of Kurrimine Beach, Mission Beach, Silkwood, Mena Creek and Innisfail.

Kewarra Beach resident Wayne Morgan said he was looking forward to getting his 1964 Austin Healey BJ8 on the road.

“We do to a lot of functions like this and we enjoy them all, we’ll have a good time,” he said.

“My wife will be doing the driving. She’s the driver in our family.”

Cassowary Coast Acting Mayor Wayne Kimberley said the event was a great way to boost the local economy.

“It will also give our locals an opportunity to enjoy seeing a variety of classic cars.”

The Tour de Cassowary will run in three stages, kicking off from Rankin Street in Innisfail at 8am before finishing at Innisfail’s Anzac Park from 4pm for a trophy presentation.
