Taking a hike for homeless

-

JACK LAWRIE CAIRNS mental health worker Natalie Holden will walk the Camino trail next year to raise funds and awareness for the region’s homeless community.

The Camino trail is an 800km journey following an ancient pilgrimage path that begins in St Jean Paul de Pied in the south of France, climbs through the Pyrenees and ends on the western coast of Spain.

All funds raised from the trek will go towards Wheels of Wellness homeless outreach clinic.

Ms Holden said the money raised would help provide access to a mobile general prac- titioner and nurses who visited clients in homeless shelters.

“People that do the Camino have things on their mind; it gives you time to reflect on the less fortunate,” she said.

Ms Holden’s next fundraiser will be a car wash and sausage sizzle at McCormack St AutoBarn next Saturday from 8.30am-2pm.
