FROM WEST TO NORTH

Q You had an amazing career but you didn’t play in the VFL/AFL until you were 27. What took you so long to head to Victoria? A Back then, the standard in Western Australia was very strong so I was happy being in Perth and playing footy there. But my heroes were the Krakouer brothers, Jim and Phil, so it was a thrill to be able to play with them at North Melbourne in 1989. Q You only lasted one season at North Melbourne, though. Why did you leave the Kangaroos? A I had a family and North didn’t have much money so they let me go and I ended up at Essendon. I had a few great years at the Bombers before I finished my career in Sydney with the Swans.
