Hunt for accomplice in Crimean shootings
RESIDENTS of the eastern Crimea city of Kerch were preparing to farewell 20 people gunned down at a school by a teen as authorities continued their search for a motive.
Thousands were expected at funerals for victims, to be held in Russia, which annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.
Dozens of injured were in hospital, and at least 10 who were seriously wounded, were flown to Russia for surgery.
The blast of an improvised explosive device blew off feet and legs and buried metal balls in organs or shredded muscle. Most of the dead were shot.
Little information has emerged on gunman Vladislav Roslyakov, 18. Authorities were investigating whether he had an accomplice in Wednesday’s shotgun massacre at Kerch Polytechnic College.
Residents, many in tears, brought flowers and toys to a makeshift memorial outside the school yesterday. Russia’s National Guard said it had deployed officers and riot police to all local schools.
