Queensland’s healthcare and social assistance industry is forecast to increase by 48,800 jobs between 2018 and 2023, Federal Government projections show. It is by far the largest growth industry and includes workers in fields such as nursing, disability care and allied health. EDUCATION
The state’s education and training workforce is expected to grow by 26,800 people in the five years to 2023. It includes workers in schools, training providers, universities, private tutors and workplace trainers. CONSTRUCTION
About 24,500 extra jobs are expected to be created between 2018 and 2023. It includes labourers and tradespeople, such as carpenters and plumbers. PROFESSIONAL & TECHNICAL
Government forecasts predict the professional, scientific and technical services workforce will grow from 173,200 people in 2018 to 190,200 in 2023 – equal to 17,000 new jobs. HOSPITALITY
An extra 16,500 workers in accommodation and food services are expected to be needed in the five years to 2023.
