PETE MARTINELLI occasioning bodily harm, which Sen Sgt Marcum said was “remarkable considering what is known as the ‘ Cape Discount’”.

“He is unemployed and completely disengaged – suspected in the sly-grogging world in Aurukun.”

Mr Pootchemunka and his co-accused, Wayne Pootchemunka, allegedly damaged a police car and then assaulted an officer.

“The strength of the evidence is strong,” Sen Sgt Marcum said.

“They are at the scene and damaged a police car – it is hard to imagine a more flagrant offence.

“They then seriously assaulted the officer who approached them.”

The men did not enter pleas to alcohol offences, wilful damage and serious assault.

Acting Magistrate Scott Luxton remanded Wayne Pootchemunka but released his co-accused on bail and adjourned the matter to Aurukun Magistrates Court on January 17.
