Potiris snaps up Irish hoop

-

JORDAN GERRANS USUALLY wrapped in orange and riding for Roy Chillemi, top Innisfail trainer Stephen Potiris is making the most of his chances to book Stephen Wilson to ride his horses this afternoon.

With the master trainer from Tolga enjoying a summer holiday in Western Australia with his stable out having a break, the Irish hoop takes a full book for Potiris at the Innisfail track.

“Stephen is hard to get when Roy is in full flight and of course he rides for Samantha Molino as well,” Potiris said.

“When I can get him — I get him.

“Frank Edwards too, I try and keep the local jockeys happy — they are always up here supporting the TAB and non-TAB racing.”

Wilson will pilot five of Potiris’ chances this afternoon, with the other two going to Edwards.

On his home track of Innis- fail Turf Club, the 2018 Gordonvale Cup winner could well have a day out.

He nominated Cousin Muscles his best of the afternoon in the last of five races.

“A couple of starts ago he was a little bit tardy out of the gates and providing he jumps well, he will be right in it,” Potiris said of Cousin Muscles.

Potiris is also optimistic of an improved showing from Three Point Genius in the Maiden Plate after a first-up run at Townsville late last year.
