Lemanis says Gliddon will learn from off night
BRISBANE coach Andrej Lemanis says former Cairns captain Cameron Gliddon needs to learn how to better deal with the expectations of being an offensive focal point for an NBL club.
In his first game back in Cairns after walking out on the Snakes over the off-season, the shooting guard was a non-factor in the Bullets trouncing at the hands of the bottom of the table Snakes on Thursday night.
The Bullets skipper collected just one point and one turnover in just over 23 minutes of action, in a night to forget for him personally and his new club.
“He did not have a good night and I know he was anxious about coming back in here, he wanted to play well and perhaps that affected him mentally,” Lemanis said. “In terms of his aggressiveness and his output.
“Perhaps he put a little bit too much pressure on himself.
“We could have done more as a team to help him as well.
“But, there is nothing wrong with him injury-wise.”
Despite Gliddon’s Far North return flop, the Boomers national team coach described his season so far as “unbelievable” and was more than pleased with what he has brought to the club.
“It showed tonight, we need him to carry a load for us to be a successful basketball team,” Lemanis said.
“That is part of his growth process with us about his understanding and willingness to carry a load offensively.
“When you have that sort of an impact on a team, the good and the bad, you have to live with both of those.”
