COUNTRY FANS THE BEST

-

QComing from a regional town, it must feel great to have the opportunity to travel to smaller corners of the country and play a role in the growth of the game?

AWe have the opportunity to play in regional centres twice this year and we just love it. We loved going to Mackay because of the crowd it drew. People from North Queensland – I know this first-hand – we don’t get much access to high-level sporting games. We usually have to watch them on TV. I remember whenever games would come to Townsville we’d make the trip up from Charters to watch it, so I think to have it based in your hometown, wherever it may be, that’s the most exciting part for the town. Especially for the young cricketers that are floating about up there – the opportunity to get a touch with a representative player is a really big deal for them. On the other hand, it’s also really exciting for us as well, because we know these games draw a different crowd who are always really passionate about their sport and love to get behind anything that’s remotely Queenslander.
