INFECTION EATS AWAY FACE

ONE of the most shocking cases of animal neglect in the Far North for 2018 involved a chihuahua with an infected tooth that was left untreated for about three months and spread over half its face. The matter was reported in December after the dog had been spotted roaming Bentley Park. The infection was so severe it had eaten away the animal’s face exposing one of its eyes. The animal was in extreme pain and had to be put down by a vet. It is understood the dog’s owner had been told about three months earlier that the animal had a tooth infection but failed to seek further treatment because of money.
