DOG LEFT TO COOK IN SUN
A SIX-month-old dog was left to die in the hot sun when Cairns experienced extreme temperatures in late November. The female staffordshire terrier/mastiff cross had been chained to the side of a West Cairns home on 30cm of metal chain. There was no shade and the dog had no water. The RSPCA labelled is “just disgusting abuse, absolutely abhorrent” as the dog was left “basically to cook in the hot sun”. RSPCA regional inspector Laura Harland, who found the animal, described it as the “worst heatrelated incident” that she’d been involved in and said everyone had been quite emotional.
