St Monica’s embarks on $4m upgrade

- DANIEL BATEMAN

DEMOLITION is underway on the third stage of the redevelopment of St Monica’s College in Cairns.

The $4 million project consists of the demolition of two old buildings and the construc- tion of a new Innovative Learning Environment, built over four storeys, with a combined floor area of about 1500 sqm.

Construction is expected to be completed by early-2020, according to the school’s Parents and Citizens Association.

The third and final stage of the rebuilding process will complete the 128-year-old college’s capital works master plan.

The school says the project will bring the college into the 21st century, with more highstandard, high-quality classrooms.
