Grace the WBBL’s own Lynn

- TRAVIS MEYN

THE Brisbane Heat have unearthed the Women’s Big Bash League’s answer to Chris Lynn.

Heat opener Grace Harris is the WBBL’s most powerful sixhitter and has promised to unleash in today’s semi-final against the Sydney Thunder.

Harris struck the fastest century in WBBL history this summer off 42 balls and is now ready to explode in the finals.

The 25-year-old has whacked 15 sixes in the tournament at an average of one every 15 balls.

Lynn averages a six every 14 balls and is the BBL’s most devastating batsman and an international superstar.

The Heat must beat the Thunder at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney to qualify for the Australia Day final, and Harris said she will not die wondering.

“I’ve always been a stronger player and I find joy in smashing the ball,” she said.

“I’ve always wanted to just hit sixes. My ideal over is to hit 36 from six sixes.

“I’m living that dream. That’s my end goal.

“I enjoy those smaller joys in cricket. I’ve got caught up analysing cricket too much in the past.

“I play better when I’m chilled and having fun rather than being serious.

“I need to rely on my natural instincts a little bit. See ball, hit ball.”

The Heat won nine of their 14 regular season matches to finish third on the ladder.

If the Heat win hosting rights, the final will be played at Allan Border Field next Saturday given the Gabba will be hosting the Australia-Sri Lanka Test.
