For the first time, this year’s accolades included two Lifetime Achievemen­t awards, recognisin­g people who have gone above and beyond in their service to Cairns.

The awards were won by Peter Digweed and Clive Gordon for their long-standing work with the scouting movement and equestrian sports respective­ly.

“We’re very pleased to present Lifetime Achievemen­t awards to Peter Digweed and Clive Gordon,” Cr Manning said.

Founder of the Agile Wallaby Project Shai Ager won Young Citizen of the Year for her conservati­on work.

“It’s really nice to get a little bit of recognitio­n for the hard work that myself and the other Agile Project volunteers have put into the projects,” she said.

Rounding out the awards recipients were Volunteer of the Year Sarah Grainer, Sportspers­on Portia Louise Eden, Junior Sportspers­on Braden Plath, Cultural Award winner Jan O’Donnell and Junior Cultural Award winner Amber Farnan.
