SOMETHING big is building at Mareeba United, and it’s about to be unleashed on the FNQ Premier League.

The ominous warning from coach Angelo Tatti came just days after the Bulls gave runaway competition leaders Edge Hill United the toughest challenge of their season, as Mareeba hits the reset button for the second half of the campaign.

Tatti’s squad will chase their place in the post-season from a comfortable position, sitting fourth with a points differential of zero.

Sunday night’s away clash with Southside presents the perfect challenge for the men from Borzi Park.

The Comets are level on points with the Bulls, albeit with a slightly worse goal difference, and the teams drew 2-2 when they met in the first round.

Tatti, who was elevated to the head coaching role in the off-season, believes this contest could be the game when everything finally clicks.

The issue, he said, is not so much in the creation of opportunities, but sending the ball into the back of the net when it can make the biggest difference.

“The team is coming good, it just feels like something is going to happen in the next few weeks,” Tatti said. “We’re going to click.

“It’s a really tough game this weekend, the boys will be out for the win.

“We had a really good game against Edge Hill, we just have to put our chances away.

“It’s been our biggest problem for the past six weeks now. We create early chances but we just don’t get them into the back of the net.’’

Solomon Islands international Richard Fono debuted for Mareeba in last week’s 3-1 loss. Fono came off the bench in the 70th minute, and opened his tally just 13 minutes into his first campaign in FNQ.

Tatti confirmed Fono would be in his squad for the Comets clash, with kick-off at 5pm on Sunday.
