Let’s get ready to rumble

PRO WRESTLING is coming to Port Douglas as part of an action-packed Carnivale lineup.

It’s one of a number of new shows making its debut at the Douglas Shire’s biggest party and if the pre-event buzz is anything to go by, it promises to be one hell of a night.

The Pro Wrestling Power, better-known as PWP, will bring its colourful roster to The Oaks Resort on Saturday, May 15 with crowd favourite the Prince of Port Douglas, aka Sam Evans, set to lock horns with Chaos. And the Cairnsbased star had a message for the home crowd.

“I don’t think Port Douglas can even handle Chaos up there,” he said.

“The beauty is they have to put me in the royal rumble.

“I’m pretty sure I’m going to win, like I always do.”

The feature event is the IronBar Royal Rumble, where the winner will take home a cool $10,000 cash.

Crowds can yell themselves hoarse barracking for the goodies or the baddies in this two-hour show featuring local wrestlers.

Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr said Carnivale always puts on a varied and quality program.

“The events, experiences and atmosphere of Carnivale is like nothing else,” he said.

“What a great line-up of events we have this year.”

The Wonderland Spiegeltent opens the week-long celebration on Friday, May 14.

Blunderland and Popcorn Underground are just for adults while The Greatest Magic Show will have mum, dad and kids spellbound.

Spiderbait and Tex Perkins headline Carnivale weekend from May 19-22.
