A TIME FOR HEALING

-

A FULL program for Reconciliation Week has been designed to encourage Douglas Shire residents to take part.

Douglas Shire Council has worked with the Douglas Indigenous Events Committee, Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Organisation, Bamanga Bubu Ngadimunku Aboriginal Corporation and Mossman Gorge Centre to deliver an engaging schedule from May 27.

“It’s the first time we’re coming together to act on something, not just talk about it,” said Mayor Michael Kerr.

Key events include a flag-raising ceremony at Mossman, a community colour fun-run on the waterfront at Port Douglas, colourful sea of hands art installations in both towns, children’s playtimes and a netball fast fives competition.
