RACE 6 BABINDA ELECTRICAL LIGHTNING HANDICAP

(950m) How do we go past the incredible recent form of Temple Run here? He has stepped right up to the plate for the astute Gary Dickson stable out of Townsville. He draws a perfect gate and is absolutely flying at the moment and is the one they will all be looking over their shoulder for in the last 100m. I think we can forgive Bold Type for his second-up failure at Townsville last start. He comes back to Townsville where his record is tremendous and he will be another that is going to be very strong late. Bet On Love is a mare who always gives her all at Cairns, her run last start was very good to just miss out and she must be included. SELECTIONS: 6 Temple Run, 8 Bold Type, 11 Bet On Love, 9 Tycoon Thunder

RACE 7 CSF INDUSTRIES (1500m) John Booke absolutely has all four hooves placed firmly on the till at the moment. He goes back and storms home every start so again he will need some favours here with speed on and a touch of luck early from the awkward barrier draw. But I think he is well placed to finally break the drought in this. Just Jessie has to carry the grandstand here with 62kg but she has been chasing home some ultra-smart mares in better races than this recently and Ryan Wiggins sticks from a good barrier draw. Up The River is a horse we must entertain here. He is a get-back and run-on type whose race was huge last start to just miss out.

SELECTIONS: 3 John Booke, 1 Just Jessie, 6 Up The River, 5 Cololombatti RACE 8 RED BERET HOTEL CAIRNS

CUP (2100m)

What a Red Beret Hotel Cairns Cup this is shaping up to be. Namazu has been a revelation in the North, winning all three Guineas races run at Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville and all in scintillating fashion. While the barrier gods have been extremely unkind, he will be aided by leading rider Ryan Wiggins with just 54kg on his back and I expect he will relish the step up to 2100m. Just needs some luck early in the run. I find it so hard to leave out

Buster Block who is definitely going to relish the 2100m of the Cairns Cup.

Maquereau loves Cairns and I think he can turn that Townsville Cup run right around with a bottler in this.

SELECTIONS: 12 Namazu, 8 Buster Block, 14 Maquereau, 3 Unbiased

RACE 9 MM DAINTREE GUINEAS (1500m)

Cleaver Greene now looks a formidable force. On paper he looks to roll easily in front and despite the big impost of 60kg, he’s sure to be well rated by leading Central Queensland jockey Ashley Butler. If he can pinch a few lengths turning they will not run him down. Ask Me Tomorrow is the one that Butler will be watching for late, his run in the Townsville Guineas was good and was only warming up late, so if he can get close enough to Cleaver Greene on the corner he is expected to make a real race of it. Boombrasstic has to be included in the quaddie after his brave effort to chase Namazu hard in the Townsville Guineas. SELECTIONS: 2 Cleaver Greene, 4 Ask Me Tomorrow, 6 Boombrasstic

?? ?? Namazu has won the Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville Guineas and lines up in the Cairns Cup today at Cannon Park.
