RACE 6 DES LAMBART MEM. BM85 HCP (1200M)

Royal Hale ($2.50) a deserved favourite after good win last time, but no reason Genzai The Wolf ($4.40) can’t make a real race of it. He’s a ripper at Eagle Farm (has placed nine of 10 starts here, winning twice) and has chased home some handy horses at his past three starts. If there’s to be a knockout, Royal Hale’s stablemate Tokoriki Lad ($5.50) is probably it. He’s not noted as a first-up performer, but he invariably dives into deeper races than this. His best is comfortably good enough, particularly with the 3kg claim.

SELECTIONS: 4 Genzai The Wolf, 3 Royal Hale, 2 Tokoriki Lad

RACE 7 EUREKA STUD BM72 HCP (1200M)

Ingear ($3.60) is talented, but she’s had her problems. First-up two preps back she looked certain to win before Amiche overhauled her and it then came to light she had bled and was barred for three months. Returned and bolted in first-up at the 1000m this track. The wheels then fell off but she was still competitive, except for the heavy track run. Has trialled okay. Red Rubi ($6.50) is improving and has won well her past two. The Big Goodbye ($4.80) is new to Queensland and comes with a solid record. Undeniable ($4) and Jubai Pride ($6.50) also have hopes.

SELECTIONS: 4 Ingear, 5 Red Rubi, 6 The Big Goodbye

RACE 8 TATT’S MEMBERS QTIS 3YO HCP

(1000M)

The Kewess ($2.90) comes up short after winning at the Sunshine Coast six days ago. This will be a tougher and the barrier doesn’t deal him any favours. I’m happy to spec Mister Larabee ($5.50). He’s carried a bit of a spruik from the get-go and showed why when he won second-up last prep. He then started $6 in a Listed race but lost the plot. He’s been gelded since and the trial was fine. He will be better over further, but hoping he sprints well fresh. Rhapsody Rose ($4) was good through the carnival and this is easier. Just needs some luck from the draw.

SELECTIONS: 6 Mister Larabee, 1 Rhapsody Rose

RACE 9 EMMA WILLIAMS BM75 HCP (1400M)

Samurai ($7.50) comes back to 1400m after just missing at the trip two starts back and then winning over 1500m last time. Trainer John Moore opts to go for the blinkers this time and that may make him sharper over the shorter course. Gets a genuine tempo and will finish strongly. Vinco

($4.60) was super last time. Can he back that monster effort up? Avowal

($8) gets a senior jockey after being gunned down here three weeks back. Dusty Tycoon ($3.60) stretches to 1400m for the first time. She’s been terrific in her past two runs and while I have a niggle at the trip, she’s classy.

SELECTIONS: 2 Samurai, 1 Vinco, 4 Avowal, 3 Dusty Tycoon
