CONFLICT INEVITABLE
I WELCOME the announcement to have Australia capable of finally planning to operate an effective nuclear powered submarine Naval Force capable of long-time underwater operations and nuclear propulsion has been safely operating for many years.
Although non-nuclear armed at this time, any nuclear up-arming would simply require loading nuclear weapons (eg missiles) onshore/offshore anywhere in the world. The country which cannot be named (China), ruled under the dictatorship of the Chinese Communist Party, is well-practised in rigorously propagandising against and threatening with direct force countries deemed less militarily strong. They do well understand the horrendous immediate and ongoing results of a nuclear conflict. I note that the Australian Greens are already opposing our government as their left-wing leanings are well-known.
So, if we return to a situation of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) and the country currently trying to monster the South Pacific Area (China) understands that the rest of the world has had a gutful of their antics then they suddenly become wise and “pull their bloody heads in”.
When dealing with dictatorial regimes, diplomacy is “nice” but only effective when both economic and effective military pressure directed towards them assist them in recognising that their actions are not acceptable.
As we humans continue to overpopulate the Earth then there will be widespread conflict as countries fight for water and food security in ever diminishing returns. Ross L Grant, Manoora
